One of Mark DeGroft's greatest loves in life was holding a guitar. And when his eyes closed as he played, your soul would open on a breathtaking journey; soaring with edgy passion or inspired abandon.
In September 2018, Mark DeGroft became suddenly and gravely ill from an attack of sepsis that severely damaged his extremities. He has undergone 5 surgeries: on his face and, tragically, removal of both hands and feet. With the heart of a gentle warrior, he is slowly recovering, and learning his way through these life-changing injuries.
Throughout, Mark has displayed a quiet valor and stoic endurance with grace and humor, with Cindy, Ellie, and John ever by his side. He still has a long road to travel before he can return to Talent.
In December, three of the DeGroft's friends came together to ask their musician circle of friends for original songs of love and healing to help support and speed him home. The resulting album is dedicated to Mark and his new journey, so that he may be able to let fly his own music once again.
